The Summary
Martha Lane Fox and the team which supports her work as 'UK Digital Champion' have spent the past year supporting and challenging government, industry and charities in order to speed up efforts to help everyone – particularly those from disadvantaged groups – get online.
This manifesto is informed by the team’s work over the past year and progress so far includes:
- £30m in Government funding for the community training and access network UK online centres.
- The launch of the Race Online 2012 partnership programme which has gathered commitments from 900 partners to get 1.7m more people online by the end of the Olympic year.
A great start. But we can and should do more. Read on for our recommendations for how we take our next steps toward making the UK a truly networked nation.
