Rick Crust

Rick Crust

Rick Crust reckons he's directly trained hundreds of the 1,500 over-50-year-olds who've learned how to use the web since the launch of the Hackney Silver Surfers’ group by Age UK Hackney seven years ago. 'Why do I do it?' he laughs. 'It's certainly not for the money!  Honestly, I like doing it. I like the contact it gives me to my peer group. It's really let me become a part of the community - I've met amazing people. And yes, because it's important, it really makes a difference. What we do here reduces social isolation. It helps people feel more comfortable in the community. And it lets people actively contribute to the world they live in. That's a really valuable contribution.'
