Race Online with IAB
How do you win a race? Is it down to skill, training or a great pair of trainers? Whether it’s a quick sprint, a marathon or a walk through the park, there isn’t a guaranteed formula for winning a race. However, everyone in the UK can take part in the race online.
8.4 million people in the UK have never used the internet. They are already missing out on huge consumer savings, access to information and education.
Crossing time zones, opening new channels of communication and access to a whole new world of content;just 3 reasons why our partner IAB (The Internet Advertising Bureau) believes being online should be a key concern for every business contributing in the UK’s digital economy. It is encouraging “any IAB member organisation of any size to get involved to support the initiative in order to build a creative, connected, inspired and truly remarkable UK.”

IAB is the trade body for the online advertising industry and a Race Online 2012 partner, pledging to spread the word among its member base, aiming to persuade media owners and brands to get involved. It has over 540 partners. In its first steps towards putting its promise into action and further promoting digital industry through the distribution of educational materials, it has produced a new white paper and a fantastic interview with Martha Lane Fox undertaken by IAB chairman Richard Eyre. See below.
How you could incorporate the Race Online 2012 message in your B2B communications? We are aiming to sign up as many partner organisations as possible, to help everyone in the UK enjoy the benefits those online have every day. This is only the beginning of IABs plans to help the race online. As Richard Eyre has stated, “whatever your politics, society works best when it is more rather than less inclusive." What could you do?

Taking part in the race online is a challenge everyone in the UK needs to take part in. We need to inspire more people to try the internet, encourage people to go online, reward them for doing so and support those who need a helping hand. IAB have donned their running shoes so why not join us now? This is an Olympic legacy that would benefit us all.
So on your marks, get set... go!
