Microsoft

Also arguably the biggest name in the computer industry, Microsoft are continually pushing the boundaries of technology with interests in everything from microchips to mobile phones.
They're also one of the most charitable organisations in the world and the Race Online 2012 campaign provides them with an opportunity to use their expertise and resources to make a huge difference..
Why they're getting people online
“Now, more than ever before, it's decision time on the digital divide. As a nation, we need to take people with us as technology advances. Microsoft believes that British businesses have a serious responsibility to work with government and organisations to address this important issue." Gordon Frazer, Microsoft UK Managing Director
How they're doing it
Using the combined weight of their 32,000 strong partner network they have expanded their Britain Works and DS4C (Digital Skills for Citizens) initiatives. They are helping people on the wrong side of the ‘digital divide’ to realise their potential, as well as meeting governmental green objectives by lengthening the lives of PCs.
A significant campaign created in conjunction with their partners and Age UK saw them call out to the nation to Give someone their first time online. Promoted on some of Microsoft's high traffic websites including Bing, MSN UK and XBOX Live, millions of people were given the opportunitiy to buy a low cost PC and connectivity package for someone they know who is offline.
